Heijunka is Not a Box
Scott Davis
Heijunka is often viewed as
an “advanced” lean tool or one that only certain
organization types can utilize and benefit
from. Heijunka is often thought of as an
“execution tool” and not understood as a
fundamental concept of the Toyota Production
System. Addressing these and other
misunderstandings and beginning to understand
heijunka as a driver of continuous improvement
and a fundamental concept of TPS is the main
objective of this session. Participants will
also learn how heijunka affects supply chain
performance within Toyota.
Upon
completion of this session, participants
will learn…
-
Heijunka as a concept, not a tool.
-
Heijunka as a framework to drive continuous
improvement.
-
The necessary link between problem solving
and Heijunka.
-
How
heijunka mitigates the demand amplification
in the supply chain.
